Estepona & Marbella · Costa del Sol

Estepona

Where the Costa del Sol keeps its soul, whitewashed lanes, espetos on the beach, and Marbella's glamour just down the coast.

Estepona is the Costa del Sol as it was meant to be, a whitewashed old town spilling with flowers, a palm-lined seafront, and chiringuitos grilling espetos over driftwood fires as the sun drops into the sea. It is relaxed, sun-drunk and unmistakably Andalusian. And when you want to turn up the glamour, Marbella and the superyachts of Puerto Banús are a short drive east, the best of both worlds, with home base in the quieter, prettier one.

What to Do

Estepona & beyond

The Garden of the Costa del Sol

Estepona's Old Town

The Garden of the Costa del Sol

Estepona has kept its soul. Its old town is one of Andalucía's prettiest, a maze of whitewashed lanes drenched in geraniums and bougainvillea, where every corner turns up a tiled fountain, a quiet plaza or one of the 60-plus giant murals that have made the town an open-air gallery. Slow, scented and gloriously un-touristy.

Beaches & the Paseo

Sun, sand and the seafront

More than twenty kilometres of Blue-Flag beaches unfurl along the coast, linked by a palm-lined paseo marítimo made for sunset strolls. Claim a beach club by day, then settle into a chiringuito for grilled fish and a cold glass of something as the sky turns to gold.

The glamorous neighbour

Marbella & Puerto Banús

The glamorous neighbour

When you fancy a little dazzle, Marbella is twenty minutes east. Wander the orange-blossom Old Town and the Plaza de los Naranjos, browse the designer flagships of the Golden Mile, and watch the superyachts and supercars parade around Puerto Banús, one of the most glamorous marinas on earth.

Fairways between mountain and sea

The Costa del Golf

Fairways between mountain and sea

This stretch of coast holds one of the highest concentrations of golf in Europe, championship courses laid out between the Sierra Bermeja and the Mediterranean. Tee off with the sea on the horizon, play a different course each day, and still be back for lunch on the beach.
